The Fairways at Twin Lakes, formerly known as Twin Lakes Country Club, was built in 1923. It was designed by Sandy Alves, who did golf course construction for Donald Ross. Impressed by his work, Ross recommended Alves to the Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was hired to supervise construction of its Donald Ross course, and stayed on as the club’s first Golf Professional. Eight years later he was chosen by his fellow masons to design and build a course for the Mason’s Organization of Cleveland. With the help of Ross, he created the Acacia Country Club in 1923. Alves remained there as its Golf Professional until his death in 1939. While at Acacia, Alves designed a number of Cleveland area courses, including Aurora Country Club, Highland Park Country Club and Madison Country Club; Highland Meadows Country Club and Sylvania Country Club, both in Toledo; as well as Twin Lakes Country Club here in Kent.

Twin Lakes’s beautiful tree-lined fairways and rolling hills, combined with its Donald Ross trademark fast undulated greens, create a scenic and challenging test for golfers of all skill levels.

While we are now a public facility we would like to respect the history and tradition of Twin Lakes and ask that you dress appropriately.

• Metal spikes (Soft spike golf shoes or tennis shoes are fine).
